.Concept & Theme
This project reimagines the concept of an instrument, transforming it into a tactile, body-driven interface that bridges movement, touch, and sound. It invites performers to interact directly with physical materials through their choreography, creating a sensory relationship that goes beyond touch to include the unique acoustic qualities of each material. The movements of the performers serve as a living score, where choreography becomes both a compositional tool and a means of playing the instrument. By constructing a tactile and auditory dialogue with the materials, the project emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, movement, and sound, offering a profound exploration of how physical interaction can become a medium for creative expression.
.The Technical Part
This project is an instrument designed to explore the relationship between body, movement, and sound. It consists of nine containers, each filled with a different natural material such as stone, grass, or sand. The setup resembles a "Twister" game, with a carpet of tiles under which piezo microphones capture the sounds of the materials when stepped on. Each piezo microphone is connected to a channel in a sound interface, allowing the sound of each material to be distinctly amplified and processed. The instrument is played by two performers following a specific choreography, where their composed movements generate a dynamic soundscape.
