CASS stands for the Creative Departments: Composition, ArtScience & Sonology at the University of the Arts The Hague. CASS Concerts are 100% student organised events for the students of these three departments to collaborate and work together to put together a concert series.
Our first event of this year centered around the concept of “Inner sources of spontaneous creation.”

HaLO (The Hague Laptop Orchestra) is an improvisation-based ensemble which consists of eight performers with laptops, variety of sensors and electronics. The ensemble is formed in 2022 by Pedro Latas, Isaac Barzso, Ege Şahin, Nursinem Aslan and Zeynep Oktar who are laptop performers, composers and sonologists from Composition, Sonology and ArtScience department from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague.

Enter the fietsenstalling in silence and find a bicycle, preferably your own
Wait for the ring of a single bicycle bell
With one hand lift the back of the bicycle, and with the other slowly pedal (the bike won’t move at all!!)
Over several minutes, accelerate to the fastest possible speed
(with great effort!!)
When the bell rings again, stop pedaling, and let the tire spin freely
(listen deeply!)
Wait until the tire stops by itself (be patient!!), and leave in silence.

Sound artist Gemma Luz Bosch invites you to a journey through a new sound palette. Together with Myra-ida van der Veen, they will extract different timbres and textures from two pianos. To perceive sound, you need a source that vibrates (moves) the air and someone who can perceive those vibrations: “Sound is movement”. Gemma wants to shape that movement.

The investigation of dream lucidity can shed light on the relationship between metacognitive insight and control, on the one hand. And the spontaneous, largely imagistic cognitive processes that underlie the formation of dream imagery, on the other hand.
